Kassel, culture: Hessian State Museum
|
The exhibition on prehistory and ancient history displays inter alia implements
from the Palaeolithic Age, finds from the Bronze Age and early Iron Age, wooden
finds of a kind rare in Europe, Celtic gold coins, and finds from Frankish
castles and graves. Another section exhibits the oldest collection of arts and
crafts in Hessen from the early Middle Ages to the present.
The German Wallpaper Museum in the Hessian State Museum.
The only one of its kind in the world, the Wallpaper Museum displays more than
600 treasures from centuries-old wallpaper culture. Among other Things, the
visitor will see gold skin wallpapers, flock and oilcloth wallpapres, end-leaf
and binding papers, Chinese wallpapers, Tapa wall hangings, and wallpapers from
their origins to the present day.
